Registry and student services staff can ask how to do a task in Banner and see each step on their own screen. The steps follow your institution's own procedures, codes and rules, not a generic manual.
Book a 10-minute demoAfter the demo, we’ll set up your department free of charge. A small trial confirms it’s accurate, then a larger trial measures the drop in support queries.
We check every step works before your staff see it.
Outcomer isn’t a library of ready-made Banner guides. We build your guides from your own procedures, on your own Banner set-up, and test each one before your staff use it.
Your registry and student services staff get the answer on screen, in Banner and the systems around it, instead of interrupting a colleague or raising a ticket.
Training covers the main registry processes, but staff forget the page codes and steps they use only a few times a term. Outcomer answers their questions while they work in Banner, using your own procedures and codes.
General answers for the standard product. Your own set-up may differ, and that’s what Outcomer follows.
Open the Student Course Registration page (SFAREGS), enter the term and student ID, and select Go. Move to the course information section, add a row, enter the CRN and tab across so the details fill in. Check the status and grade mode, then save. Your set-up may differ.
In SFAREGS, select the CRN and change its status to the drop or withdrawal code your institution uses, then save. If you drop a main module, also drop any linked tutorial or lab sections. The status codes are set locally, so your set-up may differ.
When an error shows against a CRN in SFAREGS, select the CRN, move to the Override column, choose Yes and save. Only do this when your rules allow it, and record why, for example in a comment on the student's record.
Use the registration permit-override page (SFASRPO). Enter the student ID and term, select Go, choose the permit code for the restriction being lifted, enter the CRN or subject and course number, and save. Ask the student to refresh their screen before trying again.
The student's status on their general student record (SGASTDN) doesn't allow registration, for example because they are inactive or have graduated. They usually need re-admission or reinstatement before they can register.
Modules with a corequisite must be added together. Enter both CRNs at the same time and save, rather than adding one first.
Open the Hold Information page (SOAHOLD), enter the student ID and select Go. The student's holds are listed with their codes and dates.
In SOAHOLD, select the hold, enter today's date in the To date field and save. Don't release a hold by deleting it, because that removes the audit trail.
Use the General Person Identification page (SPAIDEN). It has tabs for the current name, addresses, phone numbers, email and emergency contacts. You need update access to change them, and some tabs are restricted.
This is a known issue in some Banner 9 versions, where Insert doesn't work on that tab. As a workaround, go to the last comment row and use the down arrow to reach a blank row, or copy an existing comment and edit it.
On some pages, such as SHQTERM, clicking the ellipsis in the key block can return an error. Double-click the field or press F9 to show the list of values instead, or type the value directly if you know it.
If your registry and student services staff ask questions like these every week, Outcomer answers them on their own screen, using your own Banner set-up and procedures.
See which Banner tasks staff ask about most, which procedure answered each question, and whether it was finished or passed to your support desk. Your IT team can export it at any time.
Outcomer never reads, uses or keeps the data in your systems. It finds each box and button by its label, never what’s typed in it, takes no screenshots, and works from your procedures, not your records.
