Outcomer for Elite 3E

Your fee earners ask how to do it in Elite 3E. Outcomer shows them.

When a fee earner or biller is unsure how to review a proforma, exclude an entry or record time, Outcomer shows each step on their screen. The steps come from your firm's own billing procedures, so people follow your process first time.

How the free trial works

We check every step works before your staff see it.

Outcomer isn’t a library of ready-made Elite 3E guides. We build your guides from your own procedures, on your own Elite 3E set-up, and test each one before your staff use it.

Fee earners and billers learn 3E in training, but the real questions come at month end with a bill in front of them. Outcomer answers them on screen while they work, using your firm's own procedures.

Support questions

Questions your staff ask about Elite 3E

General answers for the standard product. Your own set-up may differ, and that’s what Outcomer follows.

Why is my proforma locked?

A proforma can stay locked if you leave it with the browser back arrow or the browser window's close button instead of inside 3E. Leave it with the in-app close option and save when asked, or use the save-and-close or save-and-recalculate options. If one is already locked, the person who locked it should reopen it and close it properly. Your set-up may differ.

How do I take a time entry off a proforma?

Tick the box next to the entry and choose to exclude it, then save and recalculate and preview the bill to check the result. Your firm may prefer entries to be held or transferred rather than excluded, so your set-up may differ.

Why can't I mark a proforma as complete?

Mark as Complete is for collaborators who have finished their review. Owners and the billing timekeeper cannot use it; to clear a finished proforma from their list they submit it instead. Collaborators should mark it complete and do nothing more, as only an owner or co-owner can submit. Your set-up may differ.

Why can't I see the proformas I'm meant to review?

Check you are working under the right lawyer's profile. If you are in the wrong profile, that lawyer's proformas will not appear in your list. Your set-up may differ.

How do I get a colleague to review a proforma before I submit it?

Forward the proforma to them, or add them as a collaborator. They get a notification, it appears in their list, and it stays in yours too. If they also need to submit it, add them as a co-owner. Your firm decides who may be added, so your set-up may differ.

I submitted a proforma by mistake. Can I get it back?

You can reclaim a submitted proforma only if the billing coordinator has not opened it yet. A proforma that was marked as complete cannot be reclaimed. If the coordinator has already opened it, contact them directly.

Where do I put instructions for the biller?

Put billing instructions in the proforma's instructions field. The comments are for messages between collaborators, so the biller may not act on them. Your set-up may differ.

Can I add late time straight onto the proforma?

Yes. Late time can be added directly to the proforma, so you do not have to wait for the biller. When you divide an entry, tick the option to add it to the current proforma, or it will not appear on this bill. Your set-up may differ.

What happens if I close a proforma instead of submitting it?

In some firms, closing a proforma holds it until the next billing cycle. To bring it back into the current cycle, the biller has to run it again. Check your firm's billing calendar, as your set-up may differ.

Can I record time in 3E on my phone?

Elite offers a 3E mobile app for time entry with running timers, dictation and offline entry. Entries made offline sync once you are back online. Whether you have the app depends on your firm, so your set-up may differ.

Why has 3E flagged my time entry?

3E can check time entries against billing rules as you enter them and flag entries that may not comply, including the phase, task and activity codes the client requires. A flag usually means the narrative or codes need changing before the entry goes on a bill. The rules are set by your firm, so your set-up may differ.

If your fee earners and finance staff ask questions like these every week, Outcomer answers them on their own screen, using your own Elite 3E set-up and procedures.
