Outcomer for iManage

Your fee earners ask how to do it in iManage. Outcomer shows them.

Fee earners and assistants file emails, save versions and find documents in iManage all day. When they are unsure of a step, Outcomer shows it on their screen, the way your firm does it.

After the demo, we’ll set up your department free of charge. A small trial confirms it’s accurate, then a larger trial measures the drop in support queries.

How the free trial works

We check every step works before your staff see it.

Outcomer isn’t a library of ready-made iManage guides. We build your guides from your own procedures, on your own iManage set-up, and test each one before your staff use it.

Training covers iManage once. Outcomer answers the questions that come up afterwards, at the moment a fee earner is filing, saving or searching.

Support questions

Questions your staff ask about iManage

General answers for the standard product. Your own set-up may differ, and that’s what Outcomer follows.

How do I file an email to a matter from Outlook?

Select the email and choose Browse and File in the iManage Work group, or use the right-click menu. Pick a location from Suggested Locations or Recent Locations, or search for the workspace, then select File. A filed icon then appears on the email. Your set-up may differ.

Can I file one email to more than one matter?

Yes. In the filing dialog, tick File to multiple locations. Add each location by double-clicking it or choosing Add to Filing Locations, then select File.

Why does iManage only let me open a document read-only?

If a colleague has the document checked out, iManage asks whether you want to open it read-only. You can read or print it, but you cannot save changes to the original until it is checked back in.

How do I see who has a document checked out?

Look at the document list. A red lock icon shows the document is checked out, and the name of the person who has it locked appears beside it. Ask them to check it in, or speak to your support team.

How do I save my changes as a new version instead of overwriting?

While editing, choose Save As New Version on the iManage tab. The New Version dialog lets you add a comment or change the document type. Select Save, and the new version stays open for you to keep working.

How do I save a new document into the right matter?

Choose File, Save As, iManage, or Save As on the iManage tab. Find the matter folder by browsing or searching. Enter the document name in Description and fill in fields such as Author and Doc Type; Show More reveals Client, Matter and Security. Then select Save.

How do I check a document back in after working on it offline?

Open Word and use the iManage Offline panel, then choose Upload All. For an existing document, the New Version dialog opens so you can add a comment and save. Your set-up may differ, so follow your firm's offline working guide.

How do I find a document if I only know its number?

Type the number into the search box; a number searches the Document Number. In iManage Work clients you can also type # followed by the number. Switch to keyword search to look inside document text.

How do I email a link to a document rather than attach it?

In the Work Panel, tick the documents, then right-click or use the menu and point to Share. Send Link sends links, Send Document sends attachments, and Send Both sends both.

I deleted a document by mistake. Can I get it back?

If your firm has Trash turned on, select your user name at the top right of iManage Work web and choose Trash. Select the item and choose Restore, or Restore to new location. Trash only holds items you deleted, and if the original folder has also gone, contact your administrator.

How do I add a matter to My Matters?

Select the matter in the list and choose Add to My Matters. To take it off, choose Remove from My Matters.

If your fee earners and assistants ask questions like these every week, Outcomer answers them on their own screen, using your own iManage set-up and procedures.

Your client data stays yours.
