Outcomer for CCH Axcess

Your tax preparers and reviewers ask how to do it in CCH Axcess. Outcomer shows them.

CCH Axcess holds the return, the review notes and the client's documents. Outcomer shows your preparers and reviewers each step of your firm's own procedure, on screen, during busy season.

After the demo, we’ll set up your department free of charge. A small trial confirms it’s accurate, then a larger trial measures the drop in support queries.

How the free trial works

We check every step works before your staff see it.

Outcomer isn’t a library of ready-made CCH Axcess guides. We build your guides from your own procedures, on your own CCH Axcess set-up, and test each one before your staff use it.

Support questions

Questions your staff ask about CCH Axcess

General answers for the standard product. Your own set-up may differ, and that’s what Outcomer follows.

What is the difference between a Preparer Note and a Note to Next Year?

Preparer Notes carry forward every year until someone deletes them. A Note to Next Year carries forward for one year only. Reviewer notes apply to the current year only.

How do I flag information we still need from the client?

Use a Missing Item note. It can be assigned to a member of staff and is kept apart from reviewer notes, which makes client follow-up easier.

Where can I see all the notes on a return?

Fields with notes show a small blue square. The notes pane lists every note in one place, with who wrote it, whether it needs resolving and who cleared it.

Why has my tickmark changed to reversed?

If a ticked number changes, its tickmark is reversed to show the field needs reviewing again. The Reversed Tickmarks report lists every ticked field that needs re-review.

Why can't I e-file the return?

Electronic Filing errors must be cleared before a return can be e-filed. Check the Diagnostic report, or the Diagnostic Summary on the 1040 Return Dashboard, and clear each one.

Can a reviewer approve a return that still has warnings?

Reviewers can sign off non-severe diagnostics to approve a return without clearing them. Informational alerts usually cannot be cleared. Your firm's policy may be stricter.

Why is some text pink or orange?

Overrides show in pink and estimates in orange. The override and estimate reports list them, and you can clear them one at a time or in bulk.

Where do I check e-file status?

The Return Status pane shows each return's status, including e-file status in near real time. For 1040s, the Return Dashboard also shows e-file status, key dates and how many diagnostics are left.

How do I ask a client for their documents?

In CCH Axcess Client Collaboration, use a Document Request List. There are templates for each entity type, which your firm can adapt. Clients can also keep documents in the Document Locker as they arrive during the year.

How do I stop colleagues changing a portal document while I update it?

Check the document out in the portal. Others can't edit it while you have it. You can also mark files as read-only or read/write for client users.

If your tax preparers and reviewers ask questions like these every week, Outcomer answers them on their own screen, using your own CCH Axcess set-up and procedures.

Your client data stays yours.
