Outcomer for Caseware

Your auditors and accountants ask how to do it in Caseware. Outcomer shows them.

Caseware holds the engagement file, the sign-offs and the year-end close. Outcomer shows your auditors and accountants each step of your firm's own method, on screen, as they work.

After the demo, we’ll set up your department free of charge. A small trial confirms it’s accurate, then a larger trial measures the drop in support queries.

How the free trial works

We check every step works before your staff see it.

Outcomer isn’t a library of ready-made Caseware guides. We build your guides from your own procedures, on your own Caseware set-up, and test each one before your staff use it.

Support questions

Questions your staff ask about Caseware

General answers for the standard product. Your own set-up may differ, and that’s what Outcomer follows.

How do I sign off a document?

In the Document Manager, right-click the document and choose your sign-off at the bottom of the menu, such as Prepared by or Reviewed by. A tick appears in your role's colour. The options depend on your firm's role set.

Why can't I sign off in my sync copy?

You must be online and synchronising with the parent file to sign off in a sync copy. In a protected file you also need sign-off rights for your role.

What does the yellow warning triangle on a document mean?

It means a sign-off was made out of order for the role set. Right-click the document and clear the sign-off marked with a dot to reverse it. Locked-down files don't show this warning, so the file must be unlocked to see it.

Why can't I edit a document after signing it off?

If your role set uses the option to mark documents read only after sign-offs, the document can't be changed once it is signed off. Check your firm's procedure for what to do next.

What does a red tick next to a document mean?

The document or entry is checked out. While it is checked out, other staff can't open it. Checking it back in syncs your changes to everyone.

Why can't I check out a document?

You can't check out documents from SmartSync files that have sync copies. SmartSync lets several people work in the file at once, so check out and check in are switched off there.

How do I start working on a SmartSync file?

When you open the file, choose Create a Synchronized Copy in the Open Existing File dialog. You then work in your sync copy, and the SmartSync tab in the ribbon holds the tools to manage it.

My Word or Excel working paper hasn't updated for others. What do I do?

For external documents such as Word, Excel or PDF files, right-click the document in the Document Manager and use Sync Now. Show Versions lists earlier versions.

I deleted a document by mistake in a SmartSync file. Can I get it back?

In SmartSync files the Working Papers Recycle Bin is switched off. Deleted documents go to the Windows Recycle Bin, and you can drag them back into the Document Manager.

How do I choose which documents roll forward to next year?

Right-click a column heading in the Document Manager and choose Show | Roll Forward, then tick the documents and issues to carry forward. For one item, use Document | Properties and tick Roll Forward. At year end close, only flagged items carry over.

What does lock down do?

Lock down locks the file and the documents you select after the financial statements are issued, and creates a milestone. Documents you didn't select stay open. In a protected file you need the Lock Down right.

How do I see who added a tickmark?

Hover over the tickmark to see who created it and when. Tickmarks are kept in the Tickmark worksheet.

If your auditors and accountants ask questions like these every week, Outcomer answers them on their own screen, using your own Caseware set-up and procedures.

Your client data stays yours.
