Outcomer for CCH Central

Your accountants and tax staff ask how to do it in CCH Central. Outcomer shows them.

CCH Central links your clients, tax returns, timesheets and filed documents. Outcomer shows your staff each step of your practice's own procedure, on screen, while they work.

After the demo, we’ll set up your department free of charge. A small trial confirms it’s accurate, then a larger trial measures the drop in support queries.

How the free trial works

We check every step works before your staff see it.

Outcomer isn’t a library of ready-made CCH Central guides. We build your guides from your own procedures, on your own CCH Central set-up, and test each one before your staff use it.

Support questions

Questions your staff ask about CCH Central

General answers for the standard product. Your own set-up may differ, and that’s what Outcomer follows.

How do I roll all my clients forward to the new tax year?

Use the batch year creation and roll forward wizard from the File menu's Tools. Choose the year, filter and select clients, pick the roll forward options, then finish. A results list opens at the end that you can print or export.

What do the roll forward options do?

Roll Forward the Tax Data brings across narrative details. Retain Previous Year Amounts brings across the figures. Retain Notes brings across notes on the return. Your practice may have a standard choice.

Why isn't a client showing in the roll forward wizard?

Only clients with a previous tax return can be rolled forward. The client list also hides anyone who already has a return for the year you chose.

Why can't I generate the IR mark?

The return must pass all HMRC validations first, so fix every error shown on the Filing by Internet tab. Attachments must also fit HMRC's 5MB limit after conversion, which is roughly 3MB on disk.

What does Test in Live do?

It sends the return to the HMRC Live Gateway without updating HMRC's systems. This catches HMRC checks that could make a live submission fail. You can run it before the client has approved the return.

Can I file several returns at once?

Yes. Once the client has approved, choose Add to Submission Queue instead of Submit to HMRC, and file the queue in bulk later.

Where can I see why a submission failed?

Use View History on the Online Filing screen. It shows every filing submission, Test in Live results and filing errors for the return.

How do I file an amended return?

Make the changes, open Online Filing from the Tax Return ribbon and select Amended Return. Then generate the IR mark and get the client's approval before you submit. Once HMRC accepts a return, later submissions that year count as amendments.

How do I record my time on a timesheet?

Open your timesheet, click Add and choose the client, assignment and task. Enter the hours and a comment, then Apply. Leave it as Draft to add more later, or Submit it for authorisation.

Why is my time dated the end of the week, not the day I did it?

Entries made with the automatic timer are dated at the time processing period end date. With a weekly period, that is the week's end date. This doesn't apply in calendar view.

Can I time more than one job at once?

Yes. Keep a time entry window open for each client or assignment and start each timer as you go. When a task ends, stop its timer, add a comment and Apply.

How do I file emails to CCH as I send them?

Turn on 'File email on send' in the filing options in Outlook. When you click Send, the Add Document window opens with details filled in from Central. Complete the required fields and click OK, or Cancel to send without filing. Your practice may make filing compulsory.

If your accountants and tax staff ask questions like these every week, Outcomer answers them on their own screen, using your own CCH Central set-up and procedures.

Your client data stays yours.
