Claims handlers can ask how to do a task in Guidewire ClaimCenter and see each step on their own screen. The steps follow your own claims procedures, authority limits and set-up.

We check every step works before your staff see it.
Outcomer isn’t a library of ready-made ClaimCenter guides. We build your guides from your own procedures, on your own ClaimCenter set-up, and test each one before your staff use it.
Your claims handlers get the answer on screen, in ClaimCenter and the systems around it, instead of interrupting a colleague or raising a ticket.
Classroom training cannot cover every claim. Outcomer answers your handlers' questions while they work in ClaimCenter, using your own claims procedures.
General answers for the standard product. Your own set-up may differ, and that’s what Outcomer follows.
ClaimCenter will not submit a new claim until the claim, policy and any incidents reach the New Loss Completion validation level, and any exposures reach Load Save. In practice, a required detail is still missing. Your firm's validation rules decide which details are required, so your set-up may differ.
Yes, as long as you have not finished the New Claim wizard. Click Cancel in the wizard and the draft claim is discarded. Once the wizard is finished, the claim becomes an open claim and can no longer be cancelled.
ClaimCenter supports unverified policies, built from the details the caller gives you, so you can start the claim without the policy system. The policy must later be refreshed from the policy system to become verified. You cannot complete the claim or make payments while the policy is still unverified. Your set-up may differ.
When a claim completes the first notice of loss, it is assigned to a group and to a user in that group, who becomes responsible for managing it. Your firm's assignment rules make that choice. A claim can also be reassigned later, for example to a different group or user.
When you create a check, ClaimCenter compares it with your authority limits. If it goes over any of them, the check moves to Pending approval and an approval activity goes to the right approver. If they approve, the check moves to Awaiting submission. If they reject it, it moves to Rejected.
Open the claim and, in the left-hand side bar, click Financials, then Checks. This lists every check on the claim with its status. A check waits at Awaiting submission until its due date, and is then sent to your payment system.
After a check is sent for payment it usually shows Requested. Issued means the check has been sent and Cleared means it has been cashed. Pending stop leads to Stopped, and Pending void leads to Voided. Which statuses you see depends on your payment system, so your set-up may differ.
A new reserve needs approval if it goes over your authority limits or meets one of your firm's approval rules. Reserves entered together form a reserve set, which is approved or rejected as one unit through an approval activity. Otherwise, reserves are approved automatically.
Each reserve line has a cost type and a cost category. Indemnity reserves cover what is paid to restore the claimant, such as a repair. Expense reserves cover the insurer's own costs of handling the claim, such as an inspection. The cost category adds more detail, and your firm sets the categories you can use.
Validation rules can stop a claim closing. In the standard set-up, a claim cannot be closed while it has open exposures, and you will see a message asking you to close all exposures first. Close each exposure, then close the claim. Your set-up may differ.
You can't reopen an exposure while its claim is closed. Reopen the claim first, then reopen the exposure. A note or a reason for reopening, such as a mistake or a denied payment, can be recorded with the claim.
Activities are closed by completing or skipping them, but an activity marked as mandatory cannot be skipped. Complete it once the action is done. Approval activities work differently: they are closed by approving or rejecting them.
If your claims handlers ask questions like these every week, Outcomer answers them on their own screen, using your own ClaimCenter set-up and procedures.
See which ClaimCenter tasks staff ask about most, which procedure answered each question, and whether it was finished or passed to your support desk. Your IT team can export it at any time.
Outcomer never reads, uses or keeps the data in your systems. It finds each box and button by its label, never what’s typed in it, takes no screenshots, and works from your procedures, not your records.
